Chinatown Living

I remember as a child in the early 50’s, holding onto my father’s shirt-tails as he delivered milk deep into the inner core of Victoria’s Chinatown. Back alleys, the likes of Fan Tan Alley were foreboding to say the least for a young child and my father added drama to these feelings by reminding me that these areas were off-limits to anyone other than the Chinese. They maintained a city within a city with their own rules and quazi government.

All this folklore has faded into the history books over the past 30 years as developers of all colours purchased property within the area and revamped the inner spaces of the pre-1900’s buildings to provide accommodation for modern living. The aura that comes from a culture far too exotic for many of us to comprehend, still adds a unique flavour to all the images we see today.

One of the most recent additions to this changing trend is the “Kunju”; a chic, urban, elegant alternative to the 30 storey columns of cubicle condos found elsewhere in the city.

This 4 story, 28 unit building will be recognized as one of Chinatown’s Landmark buildings. Designed to celebrate it connection with the old community, the contemporary expression should please even the most discerning purchaser.

The list of features is endless:

* Kentwood premium engineered wood flooring in wide plank Oak, Sand or Maple Cinder finished laid over Shaw ‘Silent Step’ acoustic underlay.

* Elegant smooth, painted 9 foot ceilings and 12 – 15 foot loft ceilings in the Penthouse living areas

* Sound resistant, painted, solid core wood suite entry doors

* Triple glazed floor to ceiling windows and doors with feature patterned glazed side panels

* Contemporary, smooth, painted, flush interior sliding and swing doors with satin steel finish lever sets

* European aluminum and opaque glass panel sliding doors separating bedrooms from hallways

And the list goes on. If you have an interest in one of these units starting at $225,900, feel free to drop us a line or call Daryl or Cheryl today at 1 800 668 2272.
