Get Along Little Doggie

If you were born between 1940 and 1960 you will likely have fond memories of the old Western’s and especially Gene Autry, Roy Rogers and Dale Evans. I laid awake many a night as a child, dreaming of one day riding across the meadows as the sun sets and singing along with the Son’s of the Pioneers vocal group.

Well it has remained all but a dream while it still yields the odd warm and fuzzy feelings.

Today if you have a hankering to fulfill such a vision, you have to head out into the hinterland of BC’s interior, because the major cities simply have all but eaten up the flat meadows with their Urban sprawl. Therefore you can imagine how surprised I was when this property came on the market.

4508 Blenkinsop Rd. – asking price $1,995,000

This delightful pastoral 17.5 acre parcel, agriculturally zoned, sits in the heart of the Blenkinsop Valley providing an ideal palette for a country estate or equestrian center.

Presently named “Greystone”, it is fully fenced with 2 pillared gated access points. The property has a manmade lake, and a charming log cabin with kitchen and bath. This log home has been restored and was intended to be a Club house. It also could be a great guest house for a larger manor.

A portion of the land is on the other side of Lochside Trail and is zoned for single family development backing on to other houses in Broadmead; there is no access road at this point. This is one of the few remaining large acreages within 15 minutes of the Inner Harbour.
