90 Days and Counting

One possession we have attempted to maintain within this blog is to remain non-partisan on all political levels. Each one of us have a right to our own personal convictions and we will always remain respectful your right to be wrong. (lol)

With this one exception (for now), we would like you to consider the matter of the proposed HST tax that is yet to be officially supported by parliament. If it does, it will come into effect July 1st this year.

A number of items within our day-to-day lives, which have never felt the effect of the 5% GST, will now see the 12% HST applied. Other areas that only had GST will now also have the equivalent of 7% PST tax as well. It has been estimated that a senior couple managing on an income of $40,000 per year will pay an additional $2100 in HST per year. Not a small sum for those on a fixed income.

Regardless of all the rhetoric, our most flamboyant Ex-Premier Bill Vander Zalm has jumped on the platform and is attempting to collect signatures from 10% of the provincial voting populace in hopes of forcing this new tax to a public referendum.

If you want to have your say, please go to www.fighthst.com and cast your vote by placing your signature on the petition. Failure to take the time, predetermines all of our futures.

Remember, ‘taxes once they are implemented, seldom if ever are repealed’.
